Charles “Chuck” Stanley, age 64, of Hamilton, N.J. passed away peacefully at home on May 16,2020 due to ALS.
Chuck was born and raised in Hamilton Township. He graduated from the Hamilton Twp school system in 1974, after which he pursued and received a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Trenton State College. Chuck was initially employed by the Ewing Twp Police Department from 1978 to 1983, then finished his law enforcement career in 2003, attaining the rank of Detective Lieutenant with the Hamilton Twp Police Department. During his tenure at the Hamilton Twp Police Dept. he also served as the proprietor of “Sunny’s Deli” and Publisher/Editor of the “Midnight Press”.
Upon his retirement from law enforcement, Chuck transitioned to a career in financial planning/asset management. He obtained his CFP™ designation and opened his own practice, Gold Shield Financial, LLC, in Hamilton Twp. Chuck’s major passion was the rescue/adoption of shelter animals. He also briefly served as a Big Brother and a member of the Mercer Big Brothers/Big Sisters board before his illness forced him to resign.
Proceeded in his passing were his parents, Charlie and Veronica Stanley, his niece, Tracy Leming and his second parents, Rose and Lou Shinkle. Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Erin Servillo, sister and brother in law, Betty and Bill Wade, niece Nikki Czehut, great niece and nephew, Kasey Haggerty and Matt Leming, parents-in-law, Richard and Barbara Servillo, brothers and sister in laws, Janine and David Bastady and Frank and Trish Servillo, several nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends/brothers, Lew Shinkle and Frank Pane and his little buddy, Mikey Venose. Chuck is also survived by his stepmother, Gloria Stanley, as well as his step sister, Debbie Dawson, and step brother, Barry Allen.
Chuck leaves behind his beloved pets, Penny, Murphy and Chelsea and looks forward to meeting all of his pets who have passed before him at the Rainbow Bridge.
As many of his friends already know, Chuck was actively engaged in many charitable works demonstrating his extreme compassion for all living things. Chuck’s work with animal organizations began upon his retirement from the police force, and resulted in several “foster animals” residing in his home. He was always lending a hand to those who needed it whether providing pro-bono financial planning to women in need, supporting local events such as Ryan’s Quest (especially close to his heart), Big Brothers, where he served on the Board, or Morris Animal Foundation which does research supporting his beloved greyhounds.
Chuck was also the man to count on should you need help with anything. Ever selfless, he would be able to support his friends or the children of friends whenever they had need. Chuck did not think of himself, but concentrated on the wellbeing of his growing circle of loved ones. Chuck especially loved being with his friends on his favorite beaches in Florida watching the sunset over the gulf.
Although Chuck’s life was taken from him early by ALS, he still felt that he was blessed to live such an incredible life and have the great fortune of having so many wonderful people in his life.

A visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Yardville Memorial Home, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road in Yardville.
