Donna Marie (Spisak) Chiatti, 61, of Trenton left this world on October 31, 2018 with her family by her side at St. Francis Medical Center. Born in Hamilton, Donna was a lifelong New Jersey resident. Over the years she worked for Upstairs Downstairs Cleaning Company, US Security at Merrill Lynch, and the NJ Department of Treasury; but her most important job was always being there for and taking care of her family. In addition to being a homemaker for many years, she also volunteered at Harrison Elementary School where she was adored by faculty and students alike. Truly, to know Donna was to love her.
Donna was the kind of person we should all aspire to be. Her heart was big, her mind was open, she laughed hard and loved harder, and she always tried to treat others as she'd want to be treated. She was equal parts smart and wise with a great sense of humor to match. She adored all animals, and her special affection for owls could be seen in her various knick-knacks and decorations. She supported those she loved, encouraging them in even the smallest of dreams, only wanting everyone around her to be happy. As for her, she was happiest in comfy PJs, music playing loudly, a cat or two close by, and -- more often than not -- wearing her "famous" purple sweatshirt.
There haven't been enough words invented to express the amazing woman Donna was, the impression she had on those who knew and loved her, and the tremendous void left by her passing. No amount of writing can ever do her justice. She was, simply put, the best. The world was a better place with her in it, and her family and friends were lucky to have lived life beside her. There is no doubt that she is now surrounded by pure love in Heaven with her parents, sister-in-law Margie, niece Melissa, all of her cats and dogs who went before her, and countless other friends and loved ones.
Daughter of the late Michael & Shirley Spisak, Donna is survived by her husband of 44 years Steven Chiatti Sr, her daughter and best friend Nickie Chiatti, her son Steven Chiatti Jr and his fiancee Renee Kreyling, her son Michael Chiatti, her "adopted" daughter and son-in-law Marci & Jay Manning; her sisters Cathy Pietras and Judy Hemmingway, her brothers and sisters-in-law Joe & Donna Spisak and Mike & Debbie Spisak; her grandchildren Damian, Stevie, Zen, Nora, Liam, Tyranny, Vi, Lex, Ryan, and Glenn; several brothers- and sisters-in law, many nieces and nephews; and last but not least, her beloved kitties Yoda, Spunky, Cheddar, Cowie, Salem, and Tiggy.
Relatives and friends may attend a memorial service to celebrate her life on Wednesday, November 14th from 2-3:30pm at the Buklad Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street in Hamilton.
