John K. “Jack” Mock, Jr., 94, of Groveville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton.
Born in Allentown, PA, Jack resided in Groveville for the past 40 years. He was a graduate of Allentown High School, received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, and earned his Master of Science Degree at Rutgers University, New Brunswick. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Jack was an honorably discharged Veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy on the USS Chicago.
Jack was a teacher and varsity basketball coach in the Morrisville, PA school district. He worked for 30 years at Fairless Works as a General Supervisor of Production and Planning, retiring in 1983. After his retirement from Fairless Works, Jack became a beloved crossing guard, safely guiding walkers both young and old across Gropp and Arena Drives for more than two decades.
As a longtime member of the Groveville United Methodist Church, Jack was beloved as the self-appointed greeter and official hugger for all church services He enjoyed watching most sports, especially college football; he was an avid Eagles fan who would often go watch the team practice at the old Franklin Field. As a former educator, Jack valued education and kept up with current events around the world. A lifelong lover of the outdoors, Jack enjoyed his daily walks, working in his front and back yards, and growing a bountiful garden every year.
Predeceased by his parents, John K. and Emma (Urban) Mock, he is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Judith M. (Voorhees) Mock; his five sons: Jed Mock of Frenchtown, New Jersey, Kurt and Leslie Mock of Pleasant View, Utah, Dan Mock of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Britt Mock of Newtown, Pennsylvania and Todd and Lisa Mock of New Hope, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his three stepdaughters: Wendy and Richard Stormont of Charlotte, North Carolina, Rebecca and Donald Dawson of Yardville, NJ and Sandra L. Cronce of Hamiton, New Jersey. Jack was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 16, 2020 at 12:30pm
at the Buklad-Merlino Yardville Memorial Home, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville. Visiting hours for family and friends will be prior to the service from 10:30am until 12:30pm at the Yardville Home.
Interment will follow in the Brigadier General Wm. C. Doyle Veterans memorial cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Groveville United Methodist Church.
