Miguel Torres Aponte, 102, of Trenton, passed away peacefully while at home with his loving family, on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.
Miguel was born on July 4, 1918 in Matrullas de Orocovis Puerto Rico and was the youngest of seven children. On December 29, 1939, he married his first and only love, Luisa Maria Hernandez, better known as Lulu, who worked as a seamstress. Together they raised nine children. He worked in the farming Industry, and later on with the Department of Public Works, and their Road Dept.
Predeceased by his parents, Juan Torres and Maria Aponte, his siblings, his wife Luisa “Lulu” Maria Hernandez; children, Mildred Torres, Oscar Torres and Felix Luis Torres; he is survived by his children, Maria Medina, Nereida (Stanley) Saganowski, Irma (Alfonso) Cartagena, Nelly (Efrain) Gonzalez, Miguel (Candida) Torres and Henry (Delia) Torres; 37 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other family members both here and in Puerto Rico.
Visiting hours for family and friends will be held from 8:00am-10:00am
on Tuesday, March 23, 2021
at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption,
151 N Warren St, Trenton, NJ 08608.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00am.
Burial will take place in Orocovis, Puerto Rico.
