Robert S. Hirst, Jr.

November 12, 1929 - March 18, 2021


Robert S. Hirst, Jr., 91, of Yardville, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 18, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.


Born in Trenton, NJ, he was a resident of Tullytown PA for 11 years until moving to Hamilton for most of his life. He was a graduate of Hamilton High School Class of 1948 where he was a member of the Navy Junior ROTC. Robert was an Honorably discharged Navy Veteran who proudly served his country. Robert was employed with the State of New Jersey Division of Taxation and retired as an Acting Chief Auditor in 1990 after 38 years of service. He was a member of Freemason Lodge #5, of Trenton for 70 years, a member of the Scottish Rite, Shriners, and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, all of Trenton.


Predeceased by his parents, Robert S., Sr. and Leona (Hopkins) Hirst; his wife Virginia B. Hirst who passed away on April 30, 2010; his brother Richard Hirst; and his sister Lillian Hirst Schill; he is survived by his son Robert R. Hirst and his wife Vicki of Bristow, VA, Jeffrey Hirst and his husband Todd Holmquist of Cleveland Heights, OH, and Brian Hirst and his wife Pamela of Springfield Twp., NJ; his sister Doris Hirst Moscarello of the Villages, FL; his companion Maureen Keller of Hamilton, NJ; 5 grandchildren, Jason, Shannon, Robert, Meghan and Jared Hirst; as well as many nieces and nephews.


Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the Buklad-Merlino Yardville Memorial Home, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville, with local clergy officiating.


Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.

Burial will follow in Ewing Church Cemetery
